When arriving at the Gourmandine it looked as if we were in for a tough morning with limited skiing and flat-light and when Derek, Sylvie, Tom and I arrived at the top of the Olympique we were in a fog and expectations were fairly low. But, after 100 metres we descended through the fog and suddenly had decent visibility with a surprising 10 to 15cm’s of fresh snow and the mood changed immediately. After a nice run off the Verte in clean powder the cloud cover came back in so we had lovely powder-on-piste as we skied the OK three times before trying the Borsat. From the summit of the Borsat the visibility improved drastically again and we had a great run in light powder off the edge of the piste followed by three excellent runs in sunshine off the Grand Pre. ( Probably the best quality of snow so far this season!) The clouds rolled in again so we had a hot chocolate as it was pretty chilly before finishing off with another Borsat-Grand Pre circuit. The resort being empty makes such a difference, especially when the options are limited and after three days in the Fornet we enjoyed a nice change of pace this morning and everyone went home happy.
Andreas and Tansy came up for some exercise and a ski together so they ‘skinned’ up the Tommeuses piste and had a rewarding ski down with fantastic snow.
Fingers crossed for some more snow this afternoon and tonight and we may have the chance of a little sunshine in the morning. Stay tuned!
