Due to extremely cold temperatures, flat-light, and slow openings, we haven’t been to the Fornet for a while. Today was the day for change of scenery and we all headed back to the Fornet.
Henry and I worked together this morning while Chris, Andreas and Jerome were all in the neighbourhood. We had some superb skiing in the Combe du 3300, the Pays Desert and then over the Col Pers for a 1:30 finish. Meanwhile Thomas headed for the Col des Fours and I’m sure he enjoyed outstanding conditions as well.
I had the pleasure of skiing with Fiona P this morning and I’d forgotten how well she skis. She’s one of the finest skiers that I’ve skied with in ages. You can tell that she’s skied since the age of eight as her skills are silky smooth. She can pivot, steer her skies, retract and extend and her pole plant timing is immaculate. She skis a beautifully round turn and was skiing on 84 underfoot. (I was a bit embarrassed to be skiing 96’s when Fiona was creaming it on her 84’s!) Bravo Fiona, Henry and I were very impressed!
My pal Charles is having a fantastic time and he’s really enjoyed Suzanne’s company these past two mornings. He’s sneaking in a few warm-up days before his group of 9 friends show up on Sunday.
Don’t forget that tomorrow night Karen and Andreas will be playing at the Danois. It’s always a great evening and a fantastic way to wind up our ‘Alpine’ week.
Stay tuned!
PS Henry sent me some nice photos that he took this morning. The swerve in our track is to avoid a nasty shark-tooth type rock that was poking out. Just in case you were wondering what kind of fall-line I was skiing! Thanks Henry!
