It wasn’t very inspiring looking out my window this morning. It was cloudy, meaning flat-light. And I was the only one working today so I was on my own decision-wise.
To potentially cheer myself up I checked the Pisaillas and Grande Motte webcams hoping they were above the clouds. Sure enough they both were and suddenly a ‘flat-light’ day was replaced with great visibility and sunshine.
It was a 50/50 call between the Fornet and the Motte? With it being Saturday it’s the quietest day of the week in Tignes so I decided on the Motte. (Plus it’s much better piste skiing than at the Fornet)
With a fresh dusting of snow and much colder temperatures we had supporting snow most of the way. Some places supported due to the melt-freeze while other strips supported due to wind compression. The result was some pretty good skiing. Especially when the forecast was for a grey, overcast, flat-light day! (see photos)
We had another fantastic night at the Danois last night. We were entertained by Karen and her friend Mike and as usual there was a good ‘Alpine’ presence on hand. Karen was her brilliant self while Mike’s rendition of ‘Sultans of Swing’ is quite stunning. Thank you to you both for a great apres-ski!
And thanks to Johnnie Alpine for a great pasta lunch while watching West Ham v Newcastle. It wasn’t quite the result I was hoping for but it’s a bad time to play Newcastle. They are on the up and playing some good football under their new manager. Plus they’ve signed quite a few new players in January and instead of being relegation fodder they’ve turned into a tough team.
Millie is having a brilliant time. It’s great to have her in my group and she loved the gig last night.
Stay tuned!
PS Plus it was great to have Louise along this morning!
