With all the confusing and added difficulty in travelling I’ve decided to stay in the UK with my family. The Christmas rush certainly complicates the situation. On top of it all I don’t fancy rushing about trying to sort a PCR Covid test. I think I’ll just stay here for a while longer and spend more time with the family.
The new travel restrictions have scuppered many of your travel plans and it isn’t an easy time for anyone. I think everyone has coped admirably with this incredibly mess since mid-March but it is starting to wear people down. Just being in the mountains is something we’ve all been looking forward to but we will have to wait a little longer.
My plan now is to wait until after January 6th and then come out. At the moment my family needs me here. And with no one to ski or walk with in Val d’Isere there really isn’t any point in me leaving. Andreas has the touring covered and is taking people out two or three times a week. Thomas is available and Chris will be arriving just after Christmas. Anyone who may already be in the resort has someone to ski/walk with so I’m not needed.
I’ve never been in the UK at this time of year and I’m missing the mountains, my friends, and the wonderful sunshine and light enormously. Hopefully the situation will improve and I should arrive around the 7th or 8th of January. Meanwhile stay tuned and check out the Alpine Facebook page as Andreas is posting when he does some guiding.
