Off Piste & Back Country Skiing Specialists

Off-Piste Courses

Off-piste, out-of-bounds, back-country skiing, call it what you like, we are dedicated to it. Each and every day of the season we guide our clients throughout our domain. Our goal is to find the best virgin snow conditions available for the level of our various groups. We strive to ski safely while teaching you off-piste awareness and procedures. We’ll also offer you timely technical advice when needed without detracting from your fun. We want you to become a functioning member of the team, so you can make the most of your precious time skiing.

Our groups are a maximum of six skiers (except for private bookings and in some cases groups involving friends and family), and we cater for new-comers to off-piste right up to the most experienced experts. Our morning courses or clinics run for four-plus hours from 8:45 until 13:00 and the afternoon private courses start at 2PM.

Will I need touring equipment?

Each member of the Alpine Experience team searches for virgin snow every day. We don’t ski in other peoples tracks and we’ll do what it takes to find the best snow available. This leads to an often asked question, “Will I need touring equipment?” The simple answer is not necessarily, but it would be best if you were equipped. We often ski from the lift system with traverses and short walks with skis-over-the-shoulder. If it snows off-and-on we can sometimes go for a couple of weeks without really needing touring gear. But, two or three days after a snowfall the resort becomes tracked-out. We then need to walk to find pristine trackless snow, which makes touring bindings and “skins” indispensable.

All of our regular customers come equipped with touring equipment. Being equipped gives us options to make the most of each and every day. If you are new to us, please rent your equipment from Jean Sports.  Having the right equipment will help to fit into the team and maximize  your experience with us. (Jean Sports offers a 35% discount to ‘Alpine’ clients)

Don’t be Afraid.

Don’t be afraid of the walking because many of our walks are only 15 to 20 minutes. These short hikes can open vast fields of trackless powder and give you a taste of the touring experience. We also have many itineraries ranging from 30 to 45 minutes. For those who enjoy the exertion, scenery and tranquillity that touring offers we have much longer tours available.
