That’s how Jean Zimmer summed up this morning! I ran into Jean briefly at the end of the morning and thought that was a good description of events.
After a scratchy test off the Verte Chris and I headed to Tignes. I skied the Piste H while Chris tried his luck in the Campanule. We skied a tricky but fun Chardonnet but fortunately the morning improved drastically from there. (Although everyone enjoyed their trip through the Chardo!)
The sun came out as we headed up the Motte to find some really good skiing considering the conditions. My shoulder was supporting soft souffle which skied beautifully. (See photos) I then circled back around to ski an equally good Cairn.
Chris and I both finished with an interesting trip through the Altiport. On the steeper section I tried skiing through what was rain crust all winter long. But it’s starting to break up now and with the heat it made for fun skiing. I then cut over and added to Chris’s tracks on the gentler section.
Meanwhile Thomas had a couloir morning with his team. They skied the Table followed by Mickey’s Ears and then stopped for a team beer afterwards.
Andreas is back in action and had a little warm up this morning. Unfortunately his client has had his flight cancelled due to the storm in the UK. But Ian should make it in the next day or two and Andreas will be back guiding on Monday.
Don’t forget Karen and Mike at the Danois tonight. I have an ‘Alpine’ table booked so don’t be late!
PS Henry tried the Fornet this morning but I haven’t had a report. The wind was ferocious yesterday afternoon and many lifts at altitude closed down. Conditions are tough out there but I’m sure Henry ‘sniffed’ out some good skiing.
PPS And it was absolutely brilliant to have Millie skiing with me today!
