It’s getting tougher each day out there, and in reality it’s already been difficult for the past week. We pick a sector and head off into it searching for the best snow and routes available, and anything that works is a result. This morning we had some serious wind to deal with as well, which didn’t make it an easier but at least the sun is shining and bright blue skies always help.
Chris and I headed off to Tignes and took advantage of some beautiful piste skiing on the way into Tignes before ‘booting’ it up into the Sachette. The wind was fierce but at least it wasn’t bitter and once over the col we were in the lee for the most part. I skied the couloir to the right of the Sachette Couloir and after steeping down through a band of rocks the snow and ambience made the ski-trashing forgivable. (See photos) We then ‘skinned’ twice more for about ten-minutes each time to access some lovely snow before cutting out early to ski more piste before finishing with the Familial. It was a cracking morning but I’ve no idea how to follow it up tomorrow!
Stay tuned as the sun is forecast to shine for the next few days and hopefully today’s wind will die down and not be a factor again tomorrow.
