The past few days have been brilliant, and this morning was simply stunning. We’ve been getting regular top ups of snow and with the cold temperatures the snow has been beautifully light. (-17C on the Pisaillas this morning)
There has been enough flat light to keep people away, leaving us alone on the mountain. But, we’ve had just enough visibility for us to navigate, and each day of late we’ve had a window of sunshine, which has made the day. When you’ve worked hard getting to where you want to be in the cloud it’s a magical moment when the light suddenly improves and you can see.
Today was pretty spectacular and all the teams had a fantastic maximum-turn morning. I managed to delete my photos from the first half of the morning so today’s shots are from about noon on. What a berk!
Sun is forecast tomorrow and although we’ll enjoy the visibility and the views, all the ‘pretenders’ will be out.
PS I was just checking my diary and the last time I ‘skinned’ was January 6th. Now that tells you something!
