Tricky But A Great Result!!!

The refreeze wasn’t as solid overnight but Thomas and I were very surprised at how fragile the spring snow on the Epaule du Charvet was on the first run of the morning. We made it down and it was good skiing but fragile and needed good pivoting with side-slipping and quiet feet and it was an interesting descent. It was a warning for the rest of the morning and we needed to change our plans but it all worked out pretty well in the end. After the Charvet we skied the Cabine de la Garde before ‘skinning’ up to Mont Roup, which was excellent but fragile and we wouldn’t have wanted to be any later. Next up was the Cugnai which held up well due to a strong foehn wind that kept it cool and we finished with a great run down the Marmottons into the Marmottes. When we were skiing the Charvet first thing I didn’t think we’d end up doing so much and having such a good morning so it was a great result in the end!

Chris was heading down to Bonneval this morning but there was a huge amount of cloud hanging over the itinerary and the wind was blowing a hoolie at the Fornet so he unfortunately needed to cancel his trip. Meanwhile Andreas headed to ski spring ‘classics’ in Tignes and I haven’t heard how he got on.

We had a good day at the Fornet yesterday but unfortunately Thomas’ client Sally damaged her knee quite seriously and needed to be evacuated by helicopter. She was only two turns from the bottom after a long morning out and it’s so unfortunate. We all wish you a full and speedy recovery Sally!

Katie and I went down to La Rosiere last night to watch Victor and Andreas play ice hockey in a Cancer Research Fund-Raiser and thye raised over 21,000 euros! Ness was dressed up as a white tiger as a mascot and it was a great evening with a junior game, some figure skating and then the seniors match! (see photos)

Don’t forget the final Alpine Get-Together with Karen and Andreas tomorrow evening at Le Petit Danois starting at 5:30. Ness is making a guest appearance and it promises to be a fantastic last gig of the season. Last week’s was superb and I’m really looking forward to tomorrow night! (Karen and Andreas are playing at the Coin tonight a 5 weather permitting but he doesn’t want it to take away from tomorrow night)

Stay tuned for more news tomorrow!
