My plan this morning was to go over the Col and do some ‘skinning’. But, when we arrived on the Pisaillas it was evident that there were avenues of nice fresh snow that had blown in overnight.
I always say ‘never ski by good snow’ so tried the 3300, which was plenty good enough. Good enough to decide to stay on the Glacier and ski the Pays Desert with a short ‘skin and ‘boot’ at the bottom. Thomas was on the same wavelength and we had a couple of great runs before finishing up over the Col.
Besides unexpected delightful snow was also had much better-than-forecast visibility most of the morning. It started to flatten out a light towards noon but the sun was a major factor early on.
Jerome and Pietro both returned to the Fornet again with their Ski Club members from St Foy, and that’s got to tell you something! Chris went over the Col with Michiel’s family first thing then finished in the Grand Vallon, while Andreas and Ian had a nice morning in the Sache.
It’s forecast to snow a few centimeters tonight so we’ll wait and see, but this morning was an unexpected delight and helped to recharge the batteries. Stay tuned!
