We weren’t really expecting much after all the snow and wind last night but the pisteurs did a brilliant job getting the La Daille bubble open and we profited with some seriously stunning skiing. The quality was far superior to yesterday and because so many people had a rough day yesterday it was much quieter today, and that helped enormously. After four fantastic runs off the bubble-lift we headed upstairs for a Bonnevie’s Drag before skiing the Fontaine Froide en route to a spectacular Epaule du Charvet. Chris, Thomas and Henri were all in the neighbourhood. With a 4/5 avalanche risk and all that wind we had fairly low expectations this morning but it turned out to be a fabulous morning and a brilliant birthday ski for Chris!
Speaking of birthday’s I’d like to wish Gill’s Dad Fred a very happy birthday as well. Fred is 80 today and he and Liz are off to India in a week or two with Mary Anne’s company Mahout to celebrate. It’s their third trip with Mahout and they are in for another outstanding trip. Happy Birthday Fred!!!
Thiem has just knocked Rafa out of the Australian Open and is time for one of the new boys to finally win a slam? If so they’ll need to beat either Novak or Roger in the final. Come on Fed!!!
Stay tuned for more news and photos tomorrow and we may even get some sunshine!
PS Sorry Lara, I seemed to have missed a photo of you this morning. I’ll make it up to you tomorrow!
PPS Derek reported one of his best ever heli-ski days yesterday as the snow was flying over his head, down his jacket, and he needed to keep his mouth closed. Bravo Derek and well deserved!!!
