After yesterday’s storm we were promised some sunshine this morning and after a murky start the skies cleared and it turned out to be a stunning day. We had some pockets of fabulous snow that had been protected from the wind while skiing some nice pitches of wind-compressed snow as well, which is a great option especially when avoiding the piste. I had Chris and his son Dave skiing with me this morning for their first experience with Alpine and I gave young Dave a ‘skier-of-the-morning-award’ as he did really well considering his lack of off-piste experience. Bravo Dave!
I had a ropey start to my day as I didn’t charge my radio properly last night so besides a couple of phone calls with Andreas I was on my own today. Andreas and I skied the Fontaine Froide left and right before heading down the Epaule du Charvet and then we skied the Campanules before going our own way. I skied a wonderful Combe des Lanches and Genepy while Andreas headed towards the Chardonnet and I ran into Chris in the Familial at the end of the morning but I didn’t see JM or Pietro, nor Thomas who is skiing with the Ski Club out of Tignes.
Thanks to Johnnie Alpine for a great meal last night followed by a very worrying lack of performance from the Hammers. If we lose next weekend we’ll be in the relegation zone, which is always a stressful place to be. Bummer! Stay tuned for more news, weather and sports tomorrow!
