What A Weekend!!!

What a fantastic weekend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee turned out to be!

All the colour and festivities in London were mightily impressive. We watched the concert on Saturday night and thought it was brilliant. There was a great mix of music and some excellent poems/rapping about various British successes. Prince William’s speech was very classy and there is no doubt he has what it takes to be an outstanding King one day. Perhaps the highlight of the evening was the stunning light show projected onto the Palace? It was phenomenal and seriously raises the bar to new heights!

On Thursday we went for a family walk. Then on Friday Gill and I went into London to meet my pal Biggy, his girlfriend Patty and daughter Maya. Saturday featured Millie and I playing in a team golf competition with Bill and Tina, which was good fun. (Considering my hangover thanks to hanging out with Biggy I did better than I deserved!) And on Sunday we had a lovely BBQ at Fred and Liz’s. It was the first time I’d seen them since mid-November and it was a great afternoon. Viv and Wils came along and we all went to see the Queen Tribute band afterwards at the East Horsley Village Fete.

I ran into Peter Bergman and he’s been to the ‘Killers’ the night before so he wasn’t overly impressed with the ‘fake’ Freddie Mercury! Peter’s next gig is The Rolling Stones in Hyde Park in a few weeks time. Lucky boy!

Speaking of Hyde Park the girls and I will be seeing the Eagles there the night after the Stones concert. We are really looking forward to that one!

Stay tuned!

PS Katie has one more exam tomorrow and then she’s finished!
