Wayne's Photos of the Day >

Wow, what a morning that was! We didn’t have a huge amount of snow last night but just enough to fill in the gaps.

It was a morning of two halves. Early on the light was pretty flat and it was a question of feeling our way down the mountain. But the fact that the snow was stunning made it a lot easier, and rewarding. And then the light started to improve for the second part of the morning, and we ended up with a fantastic window of opportunity. During the brief window our spirits soared we enjoyed some exceptional skiing.

For the first time in my life I skied on some wider skis that Andreas had organised for me to test. I must admit that I really enjoyed them. They made leading in flat light so much easier as I could feel my way down with more confidence, and felt I could protect myself better as well. I’m trying them again tomorrow and will probably get a pair for flat-light and potentially tricky days. ( was quite surprised that you can actually ski properly on them.) Thanks Andreas!

And thanks to Jerry and Sue for a lovely evening last night. Sue made one of the best lasagnas I’ve ever had. It was mouth-watering delicious! And the company was great as well with Canadian Cat and her Aussie boyfriend Mark.

I’d like to thank Ross Galgut who has kindly left me grippers that you can put on your ski or walking boots. Ross had read my blog about the lethal pavements and left me a couple of pairs. Check them out on nonslipgrip.co.uk . Thanks Ross.

Well I can’t believe that at the age of 67 I may turn into a part-time cheat. Woe is me!

Stay tuned!
